LCV Staff Attend ProLiteracy Conference

Three staff members from Literacy Chippewa Valley attended the ProLiteracy Conference on Adult Literacy Sept. 28-30, 2017. Pictured from left to right are Family Literacy Coordinator Deb Erwin, Chippewa County Coordinator Louise Bentley and Executive Director Liz Hart; they were all able to attend the national conference because of its close proximity in Bloomington, MN.

The conference featured a vast array of presentations and workshops to benefit our adult learners.  Some of the topics covered in workshops that staff attended included blended learning, using technology, funding, working with ESL and corrections students, and promoting adult literacy.

One of the highlights of the conference was the Student Award Luncheon on Friday, which honored adult learners, individuals and outstanding programs in adult literacy. The keynote speaker was Kemp Battle. With extensive strategic advisory banking experience, Battle’s passion is education and learning. Battle has been a board member of the GED Testing Service since 2011 and had been dedicated to rebuilding the high school equivalency exam into a full suite of products and services for students.
