Thank you to everyone who voted for Literacy Chippewa Valley as your charity at RCU’s Rock the Riverfront! We will be receiving a check for $5,000 as the third place vote getter. A special thanks to RCU for choosing LCV as one of the three designated charities along with King’s Closet and Whitehall Public Library.
As a designated charity, Literacy Chippewa Valley received great exposure: We had a complimentary booth near the finish line of the run/walk where we could promote the services that we provide. LCV’s Executive Director Liz Hart got a turn in the dunk tank. We also had a team of runners and walkers called “Literacy Has Legs”, which ended up being the largest team and winner of a pizza party at Metropolis Resort for 50 people. Our team captain was former Family Literacy Coordinator Barbara Nelson. Great job, Barb, on organizing “Literacy Has Legs!” Team members and volunteers are pictured above.
The 24th annual run/walk was held on June 23, 2018 at Phoenix Park. It was a beautiful day with a record number of participants. In addition to the run/walk, there were also family games, food trucks and live music for the public to enjoy. Thank you again, RCU, for including Literacy Chippewa Valley in a successful “Rock the Riverfront”!
